Hair Experiments

I think my hair has a curse on it, so far two hairdressers have just vanished when I've tried to get an appointment to touch up my roots. Being the strong and resourceful woman I am, I just did it myself then. Bleaching the roots is a bit tricky to do by yourself, so I only applied Elumen pink on the whole hair to get an ombre look for the roots. I was a bit scared of how this would turn out, but I quite like the result! I'm feeling bored with the sidecut, so I combed my hair in a different style for a change. How do you like it?

I'm wearing a Lip Service dress for going out to a friend's birthday party. I've had so many things to do lately it seems I've just been running around! Next week I'll have two short trips and then there's the Bella Morte and Club Underworld Samhain party I need to prepare for.

  1. your hair is so long!
The color is just amazing, it's different not seeing you with a sidecut, but I still like it ^^

  2. It's gorgeous! Love that it's a bit darker and turns brighter at the end.
And agree, so long hair. Cool. :-) I did mine red today, again. Would love to try out the pink, though!

    1. Thanks! Elumen pink is a really nice shade even on its own, it makes dyeing very easy when I don't have to mix shades like with my previous hair colours :)

  6. I prefer it without the side cut, I have to say.....

I redo my own hair all the time, in between hair dresser sessions, as it's cheaper and helps ensure it's just the colour I like. I put it on all the hair - just slap it all on, it's so easy to do compared to hair dyes full of chemicals.

Looks great and an ombre effect is always lovely - give a bit of depth and dimension:-)

    1. I've been so busy lately that I was dreaming of just relaxing and reading magazines while someone else did my hair, but maybe later then! I can do my own hair, it's just a bit cumbersome when it's this long. Elumen is a very easy colour to work with, it has a gel like consistency but this time I still managed to somehow get drops all over the bathroom ;D Thank you!

    2. I so know what you mean! I prefer to get it done by my hairdresser too when I can - nicer to relax and enjoy it.

I've got cerise/pink hair at the minute but have only just changed as have had a few years of blue/turqoise but need to switch as I want to let the green stained hair grow out as it can't cope with any more bleaching. The pink doesn't stain that long.

Once, after I had coloured my hair blue at home to top up the colour, my husband joked 'oh no, you killed a smurf in the shower!' That's just how it looked - blue everywhere! :-0

    1. Thanks! I've had the side cut for over ten years, so maybe it's time for something new :) And it's so easy to cut it again if I feel like it!

  8. Your hair looks great! You must have quite light hair naturally, I doubt that pink would show on my dark brown!

    1. I admit it, I am very blond naturally ;D My own hair colour is an ashy dark blonde, just light enough to let the pink show well. With purple Elumen the shade looked almost the same if I bleached my hair or not.

  9. It is unbelievable, it's like a wig, so much perfection - it just looks so absolutely great, not the least bit damaged, not frizzy, no nothing! Can you please distille and bottle this *secret_whateveritis* and give it to me, so I can have the same awesome strands? Hehehe this would be the first day I'd actually love the hay up MY head ^^

You could really do a small hair series, wouldn't this be an idea?

    Love from Austria!

  10. How do you get your hair so shiny and lush?

I do my own hair because it's cheaper than getting someone else to do it, but it takes FOREVER. Bleaching my roots is something I've got more confident with over time. One thing I do is break my hair up into a series of really small ponytails, one above the other, so that can make sure I get all my roots down the back and sides of my hair done thoroughly, as that's where I find patchiness occurs most, ESPECIALLY the lower sides towards the back; heat rises, so the bleach takes longer to work there - I start from the bottom of my head and work up.
